Where it All Began

Sometimes the smallest details leave the biggest impressions.

For many years, cross stitch was my creative outlet. As my eyesight gradually declined and it became harder to focus on the tiny stitches, I knew it was time to find a new way to create.

Among the many pieces I completed over the years, Paula Vaughn’s story-filled designs were always my favorites.

One in particular, Through a Mother’s Eyes, became especially meaningful to me. I stitched it for Natalie as her wedding gift. At first glance, you see a mother standing beside her daughter on her wedding day. But if you look closely into the mirror, you’ll notice something special. Instead of seeing the bride, you see the little girl she’ll always remember.

I loved creating pieces that make people stop, look a little closer, and discover the story hidden in the details.

Looking back, I realize what I loved most was never the craft itself—it was creating something meaningful for someone else. The yarn may have replaced the embroidery floss, but the reason I create has never really changed.
