My Crochet Journey starts... Here!
Hi, I’m Deb—wife, mom, Gramma Deb (and Mimi) to five wonderful grandkids, and the heart behind The Crochet Room. If you were to step into my world, you’d find it filled with faith, family, and a whole lot of laughter—kind of like this picture from the one (and only!) professional photo shoot we ever had. We tried to be serious, but as you can see… that didn’t last long! And honestly, that’s what life is all about—embracing the joy in every moment.
My journey into crochet wasn’t exactly planned, but it’s proof that sometimes, the best things in life happen when you least expect them. I started out as a cross-stitcher, but when the vision in my left eye worsened, I had to set that aside. In the midst of my husband and me being the sole caregiver for his mom and adjusting to my own vision & health challenges, my daughter gifted me my very first crochet hook, yarn, and a how-to book. That simple gift changed everything. The yarn was large enough that I could see what I was doing, and once I got started, I never looked back.

At first, I made scarves and large blankets—many of which were donated to charity. Then one day, I saw a graphgan and thought, I can do that! So I taught myself how to crochet them, then took it a step further and learned to design my own. But the real twist? The day I stumbled upon a crochet gnome and thought, Oh, that’s just too stinkin’ cute—I have to try it! That one gnome turned into a whole collection, and now, Gnome Central is just one of the many creative offerings in The Crochet Room.
What Makes Me Different?
- Quality Over Quantity: I don’t do mass production. Every single piece I create is crafted with care, detail, and meaning.
- Covered in Prayer: Before, during, and after I complete a piece, I pray over it—whether for joy, peace, healing, or simply a smile. My hope is that whoever receives it feels the love and blessings that go into it.
- More Than Just Crochet: I create things that connect with people. Whether it’s a custom graphgan that tells a story, a whimsical gnome that sparks joy, or a one-of-a-kind home décor piece, each item is made to bring warmth and happiness.
For years, I juggled multiple jobs—marketing director, executive assistant, and helping my husband with his business—until I finally retired at the end of 2024. My dream was to fully step into my crochet business, not just as a way to create, but as a way to share joy. But The Crochet Room is more than just a business—it’s a community.
Before COVID, I hosted a crochet fellowship group where women (and sometimes a guy or two!) would gather, stitch, and give back, creating items for charity. Now that I’m back home in Florida, I’m excited to restart this group, because crochet is even more special when shared with others.
I’ve been married to my best friend for over 44 years, have two grown children, and am blessed with five incredible grandkids. They, along with my faith, keep me grounded and inspired every single day. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned from my family (and this picture!), it’s that life is far too precious to take too seriously.
So welcome to The Crochet Room—where every stitch tells a story, and every creation comes with a little extra joy woven in.
I’d love to create something special for you!
