Welcome to Tangled Thoughts!

Welcome to The Crochet Room, where every stitch tells a story and every creation comes with a touch of heart (and maybe a few tangled yarn moments). I’m Deb, the hands, heart, and slightly sleep-deprived brain behind all the cozy, quirky, and completely handmade treasures you’ll find here. Whether it’s a custom graphgan that captures a cherished memory, a gnome with enough personality to start its own sitcom, or a doorstop that doubles as a conversation starter, you’re in the right place!

This blog is my way of bringing you along on my creative journey—sharing behind-the-scenes moments, tips, funny mishaps (yes, I’ve literally fallen asleep mid-crochet), and stories about the pieces I create. So grab a cup of coffee (or tea, I don’t judge), and let’s unravel some fun together!

The Magic of Gnome Central: Meet the Gnomes!
If you’ve ever thought, “You know what my home needs? A gnome with attitude!” then welcome to Gnome Central. Here, gnomes don’t just sit around looking cute—they each come with a story, a personality, and occasionally, a mischievous streak.

Take Shea & Sean St. Patrick, for example. These two bring more than just Irish charm; they come bearing a pot of gold (no guarantees on how long it stays full). Or let’s talk about Tango Splash, the fish gnome who’s bright, bold, and clearly knows how to make a statement. Each one has its own little world, and I can’t wait to introduce you to them all!

Moral of the story? Never underestimate a gnome. They may be small, but they’ve got big personalities.

What Makes a Graphgan Special?
Graphgans aren’t just blankets—they’re woven stories. Whether it’s a baby’s first blanket, a wedding gift, or a tribute to a favorite hobby, every graphgan I design is personal. I love watching a simple grid of stitches transform into something meaningful.

One of my favorites? The cheerleader graphgan I made for my granddaughter Mackenzie. Seeing her face light up when she unwrapped a blanket designed to match her competition cheer outfit? Priceless.

Creating graphgans takes patience (and sometimes a whole lot of coffee), but the end result is always worth it. Want to see the process behind the magic? Stay tuned—I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes peeks into how these custom pieces come to life!

How a Handmade Doorstop Can Make You Smile
You might not think much about a doorstop—until you see one that makes you laugh every time you walk past it. My crochet doorstops aren’t just practical; they’re little bursts of personality for your home.

Whether it’s a grumpy-looking gnome who seems personally offended every time someone opens the door or a fish that looks like it swam a little too far from the ocean, each one is designed to bring joy. And let’s be honest, we all need a little more of that!

A Day in My Crochet World: The Good, The Tangled, and The Sleep-Stitching
A typical day in The Crochet Room? Let’s just say it involves a lot of yarn, a little bit of chaos, and, on more than one occasion, waking up with a crochet hook still in my hand.

There’s nothing quite like drifting off mid-stitch, only to wake up and realize you’ve somehow crocheted two sections together that were never supposed to meet. Oops. But hey, every mistake is just a new design opportunity, right?

When I’m not sleep-crocheting, I’m usually juggling custom orders, brainstorming new ideas (gnomes? fish? doorstops? all of the above?), and prepping for upcoming markets. And through it all, the best part is knowing that every piece I create will end up in someone’s home, bringing warmth and personality.

Stay tuned for more peeks behind the crochet curtain—and if you’ve ever woken up mid-project wondering what on earth you were stitching, know that you’re not alone!
